Chicago Gourmet

One of Chicago's fall highlights is unquestionably Chicago Gourmet, a celebration of food and wine from more than 180 restaurants and chefs. Enjoy gourmet tastings, wine seminars and cooking demonstrations at this 10th-annual festival held Sept. 19-24, 2017 in Millennium Park.

This hotly anticipated epicurean event in Chicago's gorgeous downtown green space will host several James Beard Award winners, including Rick Bayless, Paul Kahan and more. All-star chefs share their food, passion and expertise with attendees on the Bon Appétit Main Stage. Popular events include the Hamburger Hop.

Expo Chicago

Chicago is not only a culinary capital, it's also a high-profile art destination. Artists, thinkers, curators and collectors arrive annually in the fall for EXPO CHICAGO, featuring more than 130 leading international galleries. Held Sept. 14-17, 2017, EXPO CHICAGO blends fabulous artworks with museum-quality, concept-driven programming to create an unmissable event for art-lovers.

The Rookery

Chicago is the birthplace of the skyscraper and has a storied history of architectural innovation. Celebrate Chicago's truly breathtaking constructions with the Chicago Architecture Biennial, taking place Sept. 16, 2017-January 7, 2018. Through its constellation of exhibitions, full-scale installations and program of events, this event is the largest international exhibition of contemporary architecture in North America. World Music Festival

No matter your musical taste, you'll hear it in Chicago. Famous for legendary blues and jazz, Chicago also welcomes hip-hop, classical, folk, roots, indie rock, electronica and plain old rock n' roll. You'll certainly be groovin' along to the smooth tunes of the Hyde Park Jazz Festival (Sept. 23-47, 2017), an annual showcase of critically acclaimed local, national and international talent. Don't want to limit yourself to just jazz? Listen to sounds from across the globe at the World Music Festival, Sept. 8-24, 2017. This 19th annual music gala gives performers of traditional and contemporary music the stage. Best of all? Both of these music festivals are free and open to the public.

Itching for the thrill of professional sports? Head to Wrigley Field or Guaranteed Rate Field to watch the Chicago Cubs and White Sox in action as they close out the 2017 regular season. Late summer/early fall is meant for high-intensity baseball, and you've just got to get in the game.
