4TH OF JULY IN CHICAGO

Celebrate Independence Day 2019 with fireworks, special concerts, and spectacular lake cruises.

This Fourth of July, enjoy the summer's biggest holiday in Chicago, with events that salute the nation and honor its history. From spectacular fireworks at Navy Pier that light up the city's lakefront to Rhapsody in Blue in Millennium Park, there's no better place to celebrate the country's independence.

July 4 Events 

Fireworks at Navy Pier

When: Thursday, July 4, 9:30 p.m.
Where: 600 E. Grand Ave. 
Cost: Free
How to get there: The CTA provides five bus lines serving Navy Pier daily. These are #29 State, #65 Grand, #66 Chicago, #124 Navy Pier (serving Metra lines from Millennium Station, Ogilvie and Union Stations) and #2 Hyde Park Express (during weekday morning and evening rush hours only). Make sure to check the bus schedule for information on holiday service. You can also take a cab, Uber, Lyft, or Divvy.

Enjoy a spectacular pyrotechnics show along the downtown lakefront. Chicago's iconic Navy Pier will present a spectacular fireworks display, in synch with a score of patriotic music.

There will also be plenty of events and activities going on at the Pier throughout the day, including live music performances at the Miller Lite Beer Garden. 

Navy Pier expects to see some of its biggest crowds and at certain points may reach capacity and close its gates to ensure the safety and comfort of all guests. Plan your visit accordingly and arrive early if you have advance tickets/reservations for performances, dinner or cruises.

Tip: Can't make the Fourth? Navy Pier hosts free fireworks displays every Wednesday and Saturday evening all summer long.

Grant Park Music Festival: Independence Day Salute 

When: Thursday, July 4, 6:30 p.m. – 8:30 p.m.
Where: Millennium Park, 201 E. Randolph St.
Cost: Free
How to get there: If you're downtown, it's easy to walk to Millennium Park. The closest 'L' stops to Millennium Park is Washington & Wabash, which serves the Brown, Green, Orange, Pink, and Purple Lines. You can also take a cab, Uber, Lyft, or Divvy.

A Grant Park Music Festival tradition! Bring your family and friends to the lakefront park for an evening of patriotic favorites, with rousing marches and patriotic anthems including Tchaikovsky’s 1812 Overture, Sousa’s Stars and Stripes Forever, the Armed Forces Salute and more. 

Fourth of July Parade

When: Thursday, July 4, 10 a.m. – 12 p.m.
Where: Independence Park, 3954 N. Springfield Ave.
Cost: Free
How to get there: The closest 'L' stop is the Irving Park stop on the Blue Line. You can also take a cab, Uber, Lyft, or Divvy.

Stop by the family-friendly 4th of July parade at Independence Park in the Irving Park neighborhood. There will be plenty to see and do, including fun activities for all ages.
