THE LAKEFRONT TRAIL

Chicago's Lakefront Trail is an active and eco-friendly way to see Chicago.

Back to Previous Page

Chicago's 18-mile-long Lakefront Trail extends from Hollywood Ave. on the north end to 71st St. on the South Side. The path is ideal for bikers, runners and bladers. Along the trail are parks, beaches, gardens and amenities like washrooms, drinking fountains, and concession stands.

SAFETY TIPS

  • Pedestrians have the right of way
  • Wear protective gear while biking or skating
  • At night, wear highly visible, reflective materials
  • Signal to others and always pass on the left
  • Before entering the trail, look both ways and yield to oncoming traffic
  • If you need to stop for any reason, do so on the side of trail, allowing others to proceed
  • Don't bike or skate while wearing headphones or under the influence of alcohol
