Sports Events & Races

Chicago is one of the all-time greatest sports cities. Don’t believe us? Check out the biggest events in sports and races in Chicago. From pro-beach volleyball tournaments and golf championships, to yachts competing in the oldest annual freshwater distance race in the world — summer in Chicago keeps it coming with sports and races that you can watch and even participate in.

Runners from all across the country and around the world travel to Chicago to be a part of the excitement and experience mega race weekends such as the Chicago Rock N’ Roll Chicago Marathon in July and Chicago Triathlon in August, to fun runs like the Shamrock Shuffle after St. Patrick’s Day and the Race to Wrigley charity run hosted by the Chicago Cubs. And of course, there is the biggest annual event of them all, the Chicago Marathon each fall.

Other major sporting matchups find their home in Chicago both annually and for special events. With the NFL Draft here in 2015 and 2016, and the Chicago Football Classic at Soldier Field, there’s plenty of football action outside of watching the Chicago Bears play every fall/winter. The NHL Draft (at United Center) and MLS All-Star Game (Soldier Field) are both also taking stage in Chicago in 2017, while scores of youth sports and college tournaments come every year. So whatever your game, you’ll find sports and races in Chicago that thrill.
