Come out for the starry starry holiday celebrations at Macy's on State Street. The iconic Loop shopping destination enchants downtown shoppers with the whimsical scenes at the 46th annual Holiday Windows and charms traditionalists with its 106th annual Great Tree Lighting.

Be sure to stop by for a magical dining experience in the Walnut Room, the festive displays throughout store all season, and of course, the shopping! Check out details and discount offers at visitmacyschicago.com.

Standing 45 feet tall, the Great Tree is adorned with 42 LED star ornaments ranging from 18 inches to 30 inches across along with other more traditional holiday ornaments and twinkle lights.

Join Nick Cannon, a multi-faceted entertainer in film, comedy, TV, radio, executive producer and philanthropist alongside a very special Make-A-Wish® child to kick off the holiday season with the lighting of Macy's Great Tree at 12:00 noon on November 2, 2013. Joining the celebration this year is Lauren Alaina, American Idol Season 10 runner up, singing two holiday songs.

Delight in the decked out Walnut Room on the 7th Floor, the beloved restaurant dining room that has hosted many a tea service since its opening in 1907.

The Walnut Room evolved from the tea room, which was made famous by Mrs. Hering's Chicken Pot Pie in the late 1890s, becoming the very first restaurant in a department store. The restaurant adorned with Circassian wood imported from Russia and Austrian chandeliers has become a tradition of dining, especially around the holidays for generations of families.

For the first time since the Circassian wood was installed, Macy's is restoring the wood in the Walnut Room back to its original glory just in time for the holiday season. The wood, installed over 100 years ago, is in good condition, but time has darkened it and the sheen has disappeared. The restoration process has begun and will be completed this holiday season.

Walnut Room Holiday Schedule

Shopping may be the star attraction on most visits to Macy's but over the holidays, tradition shines bright. As the first store to ever feature holiday windows for the pure fun and joy of the season, Macy's began a tradition that still lives on today. Get a glimpse of the animated scenes beginning at 9:00am on November 2, 2013 through January 5, 2014.

The year's theme, The Magic of Christmas, will have you in a nostalgic mode as the window décor touches on Macy's history at the State Street store, emphasizing the iconic Marshall Field's traditions of the past and Macy's commitment to continuing those traditions today. For this year, the windows have been refreshed with new surprising elements and a new window featuring the Frango Factory.

After lining up for the windows, take the fun inside when your kiddos are invited to visit with Santa and snap a picture in his enchanted wonderland. Mr. Claus sets up shop on the 5th Floor Kid's Department beginning at 10:00am on November 2, 2013, followed by weekends through Thanksgiving and then daily until December 24. Macy's SantaLand has been featured in the State Street store since 1948.
