VOLUNTEER FOR LAVER CUP

This September 21-23, Chicago will host the Laver Cup – a new world-class tennis event debuting in the United States this year. We can’t wait to welcome the greatest stars in men’s tennis to Chicago and the United Center, and we need your help to make the first Laver Cup held outside of Europe a great success!

We’re looking for qualified volunteers who love customer service and supporting fans’ needs to work shifts between Saturday, September 15 and Monday, September 24. There will be additional opportunities before and after these dates as well. All volunteers must be 18 or over.

VOLUNTEER FOR NIKE TOURNAMENT OF CHAMPIONS

The 2018 NIKE Tournament of Champions is coming to Chicago and we’re in need of volunteer assistance!  From July 10th-12th McCormick Place will host the largest high school girls’ basketball tournament in the country under one roof. This NIKE Tournament of Champions will feature 764 teams with over 1,000 coaches and college recruiters in attendance to watch the best girls’ high school basketball teams compete to become champion of champions.

*Please note, you must sign up for a minimum of 2 shifts*

Dates:  Tuesday, July 10th- Thursday, July 12th

Location: McCormick Place – North and Lakeside Buildings

General Volunteer Responsibilities: Each volunteer will be responsible for the supervision of at least one (1) court. Court supervisors will need to check bench credentials of coaches; enforce segregated seating of NCAA college coaches; maintain custody of NIKE basketballs and equipment when not in play; ensure scorekeepers and timers have necessary materials; deliver score sheets to media center at the conclusion of each game; communicate any news from the court to a Lead Volunteer (injuries, players not following rules, etc); address any spills or other court hazards; and any other issues to arise on his/her assigned court.

Volunteer Perks: Volunteers who complete their shifts will receive an event t-shirt (volunteer uniform) and an exclusive Nike bag.  Meals and validated parking will be provided for use during your shift.

CSC Internship Program:

The Chicago Sports Commission Internship Program provides students (collegiate or graduate) or recent graduates with an opportunity to gain firsthand experience in the sports tourism industry. Interns have the opportunity to work in multiple facets of the sports, tourism and event industries, including, but not limited to event management, marketing, sales and communications.

Internship Application Process:
In order to be considered for an internship with the Chicago Sports Commission, applicants must submit a resume and cover letter.

  • Applicants will receive notification via email when their application items have been received.

  • Selected applicants will be contacted and interviewed either by phone or in-person, depending on location and availability. All in-person interviews will take place at the Chicago Sports Commission Office.
  • Applicant(s) selected for the position will be notified and given additional information about their responsibilities, start date and weekly schedule.
