Chicago's only tri-level rooftop venue lets guests dine on creative American cuisine and cocktails indoors or out. Expect modern design, sweeping vistas, distinctive history, and a landmark Chicago location overlooking the Chicago River at North Michigan Avenue and Wacker Drive.
Accessed through The Shops at North Bridge on Michigan Avenue, The Gwen opened two new spaces this year: the Upstairs At The Gwen rooftop (already making waves with its Prosecco popsicles) and the fifth-floor restaurant, Circa, where 1930s-inspired cocktail carts are available by reservation. Situated along The Magnificent Mile, the Gwen is steps to over 460 retailers, restaurants, and nightlife venues.
Feel the breeze at AIRE's 24th-floor rooftop bar. Soft opening (technically) late summer of 2015, this newbie is getting in a full season this year and is great low key option if you don't want to mess with massive crowds waiting for a table. Dine on small plates made from seasonal, locally sourced ingredients and enjoy a large creative cocktail and wine menu in a chic space that wraps around the building. Soak up city views to the east, south and west from seating that surrounds fire pits and lines along the glass walls.
Take in picture-perfect skyline views from the open rooftop deck situated above the well-known intersection of State Street and Wacker Drive. A play on elevated service and the raising of the iconic bridges that line the Chicago River, Raised An Urban Rooftop Bar is a hip indoor/outdoor hotel lounge featuring craft cocktails and small plates. Raised garden beds, private VIP cloches, fire pits, and 14 taps with local beers round out the experience.
