Celebrating over 60 years of sharing history, the DuSable Black History Museum and Education Center is the nation’s first independent museum dedicated to the collection, preservation and study of the history and culture of Africans and Americans of African descent. Exhibits, concerts, films, children’s events and literary discussions are just a few of the institution’s various programs offered. Hours: Wednesday – Sunday. 11:00 AM – 4:00 PM: CLOSED Mondays and Tuesdays. Admission: $12.50 Adults/Chicago Residents ($14.50 Non-Residents; $9 Students and Seniors/Chicago Residents ($11.00 Non-Residents); $4 Children ages 6 through 11/Chicago Residents ($5 Non-Residents); Children under the age of 6 are admitted FREE. Wednesdays are FREE to all. Exhibitions include: “Freedom: Origin and Journey “Red, White, Blue & Black: A History of Blacks in the Armed Forces”; “The Harold Washington Story”, Equiano. Stories,” “The March” and The Ames Mural.
