See roaring lions, playful meerkats and majestic gorillas just minutes from downtown Chicago. Lincoln Park Zoo is free, open and amazing every day of the year.

Visitors can go nose-to-nose with gorillas and chimpanzees, howl with red wolves, peer into a black bear den and immerse themselves in the sights and sounds of Africa with wild dogs, pygmy hippos and black rhinos. Beyond providing a wild home to hundreds of species, Lincoln Park Zoo also operates one of the largest zoo-based conservation and science programs in the country.

Chicagos free zoo is located just minutes from downtown Chicago at Lake Shore Drive and Fullerton Parkway. Paid parking is available on Cannon Drive. CTA buses 151 and 156 service the zoo, which is open every day from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. For more info, visit www.lpzoo.org.

Educational Programs OfferedPlease visit https://www.lpzoo.org/youth-programs/ to learn about Lincoln Park Zoo's suite of educational programing for grades PreK-12 that occur at the zoo, in the classroom, or virtually.

Average Group Student Price RangeThe zoo is free to visit, however prior registration is required for all Field Trips. For groups that would like a facilitated tour with a zoo educator, our Zoo Explorers program costs $100 per class with limited scholarships available.

Group Visit PoliciesOne adult chaperone per 10 children is required, and one adult chaperone per five preschool or kindergarten children is requested. Chaperones must stay with their group at all times.nnWe strongly recommend that each child wears a nametag with your groups name and an emergency contact number. This information is needed if a child is separated from his or her group; however, do not include the childs personal information.
