Explore Chicago's Music Scene

Dance like you’re in your living room; sing like you’re in your shower.

Indie and alternative. Blues and jazz. Hip hop and house—Chicago is where music is born. From classical to punk, venues throughout the city buzz with live performances every day of the week. And over the summer months, the city comes alive with headlining music festivals (many of them free), including the Chicago Blues Festival, the Chicago Jazz Festival, Lollapalooza and Pitchfork.

The energy that pulses through the city in the summer is intoxicating. You only have to drop by the free Summer Music Series beneath the surrealist Pritzker Pavilion at Millennium Park to feel it. (Over the summer, the pavilion also hosts a free Summer Film Series under the stars.)
