Boystown

Past and present collide in Chicago’s Boystown neighborhood. The first officially recognized gay community in the country, Boystown has played a central role in the fight for gay rights and LGBTQ+ acceptance. That rich history is proudly on display throughout the Legacy Walk, the world’s only outdoor LGBTQ+ museum.

Today, the area is home to a vibrant community of LGBTQ+ residents and businesses. It’s also the heart of the city’s Pride celebrations and their annual Pride parade is the biggest party of the year. Speaking of parties, you’ll have no problem finding one any night of the week in Boystown’s popular bars and nightclubs.

Pride Month in Chicago

June in Chicago can only mean one thing — Pride. The month-long celebration includes almost 100 different events throughout the city, including concerts, workshops, dances, plays, film screenings, 5K and 10K runs, marches, festivals, and so much more.

One of the month’s most popular gatherings is Pride Fest, an epic weekend street festival celebrating all things LGBTQ+. More than 100,000 people gather in the streets of Boystown for live music by big-name acts, local food and drink vendors, over 100 arts and crafts booths, DJs and dancing, drag shows, a pet parade, and more. And a new music festival, Pride in the Park, will take over Grant Park this year.

The famous four-mile procession includes more than 200 floats, with marching bands, community groups, drag queens, dancers, local leaders, and more. The city is sure to go all out this year for the 50th Annual Pride Parade on Sunday, June 30.
