GAY TRAVEL IN CHICAGO

Discover LGBTQ culture, nightlife and events in Chicago — from Boystown and beyond.

This is a city of big shoulders, and even bigger hearts. Welcome! Named "City of the Year" by GayCities.com, Chicago is home to some of the largest LGBTQ celebrations in the country. Adding to that are major accolades such as the award from Out Traveler magazine, which voted the city's Boystown neighborhood the "best gay neighborhood in the world" in 2014. And with Illinois the 16th state to legalize same-sex marriage, there is even more reason to plan your getaway to Chicago.

Learn more about gay Chicago history and its earliest pioneers, stroll the Legacy Walk, or meet the friendly faces behind Chicago's most notable LGBTQ-businesses — from the dynamic force that is Women & Children First Bookstore to the fun-for-all watering hole Big Chicks.

Spend a day in our thriving LGBTQ neighborhoods, or skip around from one to another with our Chicago itinerary with stops all around, including the community hub Center on Halsted and the surrounding Boystown nightlife. These guides highlight Chicago's pride, and the 2017 OUT! Visitor's Guide produced by Windy City Times offers even more to explore all across Illinois.
