Market Days comes to North Halsted St. in the Boystown neighborhood this weekend, August 11th and 12th. Billed as one of the largest outdoor festivals in the Midwest, Market Days celebrates the GLBT community with stages of live music, good food, and plenty of vendors where you can pick up anything and everything.
Since living in Chicago, I've managed to make my way to Boystown for this annual event. The entertainment is great and the people watching is absolutely fantastic! While the party ends at 10:00pm each night, there are plenty of bars and clubs that line Halsted Street if you've got the urge to keep on going. Some notable establishments include Sidetrack, Spin, DS Tequila, and Roscoe's.
If you're going for the music and entertainment, you've got four stages to choose from: North Stage Rivers Casino, Roscoe Stage, Belmont Stage, and the Jazz Stage. Saturday night is headlined by The Pointer Sisters and Sunday, Ms. Olivia Newton-John will most certainly encourage you to 'get physical.' A full line-up can be found here.
Market Days runs along Halsted Street between Addison Street and Belmont Avenue. Please note that there is a suggested $8 donation upon entry.
