5 UNIQUE & INTIMATE CHICAGO MEETING & EVENT VENUES

From a historic artist's studio to a modern eco-friendly loft space, Chicago offers an array of unusual and diminutive meeting and event venues.

Are you planning a small meeting or event in Chicago, but want to wow them with something a little out of the ordinary? We’ve rounded up five venues that are sure to impress, from artsy gallery spaces to green industrial lofts—and even a state-of-the-art test kitchen.

TREE STUDIOS

The Ivy Room at Tree Studios

The Ivy Room at historic Tree Studios, a former late-1800s artists’ colony, is a hidden gem in the coveted Magnificent Mile area. With an elegant ballroom encircled by French doors that lead to a lush secret courtyard, this flexible venue can accommodate a variety of small events, from meetings to cocktail parties. Plan an intimate daytime meeting or evening dinner at The Dining Room at Tree Studios, where you’ll see chefs at work in an open kitchen, whipping up custom menus featuring locally sourced, seasonal ingredients.

GREENHOUSE LOFT

Greenhouse Loft

One of Chicago’s most sustainable meeting and event spaces, Greenhouse Loft is a 3,600-square-foot customizable venue that’s designed to spark creativity. This warm and inviting space is located within a LEED-certified Platinum building, can be used as one large room or divided into two separate areas, and features an Outdoor Garden that can be reserved for private evening events. On-site event managers are on hand to ensure that your meeting or event goes off without a hitch.

THE SHOWROOM ON HUBBARD

The Showroom on Hubbard

Located in the River West neighborhood, The Showroom on Hubbard is housed within a historic 1860s building that was one of the few to escape the Great Chicago Fire. The venue also doubles as the showroom for Reclaimed Table, a purveyor of sustainable furniture, so it should come as no surprise that The Showroom puts an emphasis on eco-friendly, green meetings and events, and features beautiful reclaimed wood furniture and a full-size oak bar. The flexible venue can be configured into multiple layouts, accommodating up to 70 guests for business meetings or 80 guests for a formal dinner.

ZHOU B ART CENTER

Zhou B Art Center

If you’re looking to host an intimate cocktail party, don’t be daunted by the 28,000 square feet of gallery space that sprawls over two floors at Zhou B Art Center in Bridgeport. Wherever you turn, you’ll be surrounded by priceless art created by the world-renowned Zhou Brothers, in addition to other artwork by both established and emerging artists. The unconventional LM Catering & Events (exclusive caterer for Zhou B Art Center) collaborates with clients to create a menu with a cool, artsy edge.

BOELTER EVENT CENTER

Boelter Event Center

Looking to add a cooking demo or culinary class to your next meeting or event? Then the Boelter Event Center in Lincoln Park is your perfect choice. Besides a state-of-the-art open test kitchen, the warehouse-style venue boasts a stunning skyline view. On-site catering is provided by acclaimed chef Randy Zweiban, who works with planners to create everything from corporate lunches to culinary-themed dinner menus. The event venue adjoins a Boelter SuperStore, which carries the latest foodservice equipment and supplies for both chefs and home cooks.
