How would you describe your position with Gibsons Restaurant Group? What do you do?
I'm managing partner for the Gibsons Restaurant Group and the face of the company.
What are your current projects?
We recently opened the new Polo Bar in New York City for the Ralph Lauren Company and The Boathouse in Disney World, a large casual dining restaurant on the water at Disney Commons with boat rides, a large gift store and a 450-seat restaurant on the water.
What are some of the goals of your organization?
Our daily goals are to produce the finest food with the greatest service possible.
What projects are you most proud of?
We are extremely proud of our recent participation with the James Beard Foundation, hosting Chef's Night Out at our event space The Montgomery Club.
How has your relationship with Choose Chicago benefited your business directly?
Being involved with Choose Chicago has kept our company informed on the many projects and initiatives that Choose Chicago has implemented to further increase visitation to the City of Chicago.
Why did you join? What were your expectations?
I joined Choose Chicago to become involved and be aware of what is happening with tourism due to the fact that it is such a huge economic engine for Chicago - specifically the dining community. I recommend joining so that other organizations may stay abreast of current trends and incoming events, and leverage their marketing platforms to better promote their business to the millions of visitors who come to our city annually.
Of all that Choose offers, be it networking, advertising or otherwise, what has been the greatest benefit to your organization?
One of the many benefits is building relationships with other industry professionals associated with Choose Chicago and the vast network of contacts at our disposal as a partner.
What does your recent Chicagoland North American Meetings Industry Day Four Star Award mean to you? To what do you attribute your business and event success?
The Four Star Award was a great surprise and a great honor. To be recognized by your industry peers in your respective business is very humbling.
What did you hope to achieve by presenting James Beard Eats Week and how important was hosting the James Beard Awards here for GRG and the Chicago culinary community?
By hosting the James Beard Eats Week event in Chicago, it just further solidified our stature in the U.S. and the world as a great culinary destination with world class restaurants and hotels!
In April and earlier this month, the City of Chicago and McCormick Place welcomed a bevy of major events that promoted Chicago on a global stage, highlighted by the NFL Draft, James Beard Awards and Microsoft Ignite. Thousands of attendees converged in Chicago from around the world for these events - we congratulate them on their successes!
Looking ahead, between May 11 and June 30, 2015, we are expecting 309,698 attendees for meetings and conventions including groups of all sizes, not just citywide conventions. This is truly a thrilling time for our meetings/events and hospitality industries and could not be possible without the support of you, our partners.
The 2015 NFL Draft was held at the historic Auditorium Theatre of Roosevelt University, and for the first time, included an outdoor element to allow for more people to take part in the festivities. Congress Plaza hosted Selection Square, home of the 32 Draft tables, and Grant Park was transformed into Draft Town, a free, three-day outdoor interactive fan football festival that stretched the size of 15 football fields. A total of 200,000 people visited the event over the three day period.
On Monday, May 4, culinary luminaries from around the nation flocked to Chicago for the James Beard Foundation Awards - held for the first time outside of New York City in its twenty five-year history. Chicago's most prolific culinary leaders stole the show with the debut of "The Chef Whisperer," a hilarious short film presented by Partners and Executive Producers at the Illinois Restaurant Association, Choose Chicago, Potenza Productions, The Second City and Kevin Boehm of the Boka Restaurant Group. The cast includes superstars Grant Achatz (Alinea, Next, The Aviary); Rick Bayless (Frontera Grill, Topolobampo, XOCO); Carlos Gaytan (Mexique); Stephanie Izard (Girl& the Goat, Little Goat Diner); Tony Mantuano (Spiaggia, Terzo Piano, Bar Toma, River Roast); Richard Melman (Lettuce Entertain You); Mindy Segal (Mindy's Hot Chocolate); Alpana Singh (The Boarding House, Seven Lions); Art Smith (Table Fifty-Two); Doug Sohn (Hot Doug's); Takashi Yagihashi (Slurping Turtle) and others. Special cameos included those by Chicago Mayor Rahm Emanuel, and Illinois Governor Bruce Rauner.

Microsoft Ignite (May 4-8), the technology company's debut conference, welcomed 20,000+ attendees and completely sold out of registrations and hotel rooms - an estimated 83,525 room nights were booked. Meet-up events took place across the city, and a number of Chicago buildings lit up "orange" to welcome Microsoft, including the InterContinental Hotel Chicago, Willis Tower, Peninsula Terrace, Chicago Loop Alliance's Lightscape and Trump International Tower spire. Thank you all for coloring the town orange!
Chicago Comic & Entertainment Expo (C2E2) - This annual convention combining the very best in comics, movies, television, gaming, art and pop culture was held April 24-26 at McCormick Place. This year, we are proud to announce C2E2 welcomed a record 71,000 attendees, 10,000 more people than in 2014. This Chicago convention devoted to entertainment is a true crowd-pleaser and we congratulate them on their record numbers!

The Chicago Cares Serv-a-thon is a rain or shine event, so be prepared to make a difference in the community on June 27. Since 1991, Chicago has activated 500,000 people in service to address critical issues - from education to health and wellness to job readiness - in every corner of the city. In the process, the organization creates programming for more than 200 schools, parks and nonprofits.
