Whether planning summer 2025 trips to Chicago from Boise, Helsinki, or hundreds of other places, travelers can book nonstop flights to the city, conveniently located in the center of the country.

Chicago boasts two international airports, O’Hare (ORD) and Midway (MDW), comprising one of the most connected airport systems in the world. The airports are hubs for three of the four largest carriers in the United States — American Airlines, United Airlines, and Southwest Airlines — with more than 45 passenger airlines connecting travelers to nonstop flights. Together, Chicago’s airports fly nonstop to more than 250 destinations worldwide.

O’Hare offers nearly 1,000 daily direct flights to 170 U.S. cities, and over 115 flights to 63 international destinations. Midway has over 200 daily direct flights to 74 U.S. cities, and nearly 10 to nine international destinations.

Air travel is expected to be busier than ever this summer, with 17.8 million passengers departing Chicago for seasonal trips. Beyond the big three, airlines adding or expanding service in Chicago include Avianca, Cathay Pacific, Finnair, Frontier, JAL, Spirit, and Turkish. American and United, the largest hub carriers at O’Hare, have both announced significant growth plans.

The Chicago Department of Aviation expects this to be the biggest summer of air service yet at Chicago’s airports.

With expanded routes, new airline investments, and continued enhancements to concessions and amenities, O’Hare and Midway are among the most connected, efficient, and passenger-friendly airports in the world.

Chicago remains the most connected airport system in the United States, as ranked by the Official Aviation Guide’s 2024 Megahubs Index.

Chicago Mayor Brandon Johnson is committed to supporting investments that keep O’Hare and Midway among the world’s most competitive.

“Chicago’s airports are the gateway to the world, and this record-breaking summer of air travel is a testament to our city’s strength as a global economic and tourism hub,” he said. “The continued expansion of service at O’Hare and Midway means more opportunities for businesses, more jobs for our residents, and greater access for visitors to experience all that Chicago has to offer.”
