The experience begins before guests even cross the threshold. Located at 676 N. Michigan Avenue, Harry Potter Shop Chicago commands attention with an elegant façade inspired by Chicago’s architectural legacy. Passersby along Michigan Avenue are drawn in by a design that blends the grandeur of the city with unmistakable elements from the Harry Potter films.
The store’s design leans into themes of resilience and rebirth as seen in Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire. Guests are welcomed by a moving mermaid stained-glass window, inspired by the window in the Prefects’ bathroom at Hogwarts, as well as the iconic Golden Egg, transporting fans straight into scenes from Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire.
The store’s interior brings to life the three tasks of the Triwizard Tournament:
- Suspended broomsticks “on fire” light up the store as a nod to the dragon challenge.
- The water trial’s Golden Egg adds a shimmering focal point to the store’s design.
- A maze-patterned floor leads to the register area, symbolizing the culmination of the tournament and the shopping journey.
The Goblet of Fire itself serves as a centerpiece, bringing the three tasks together.
At the heart of the store is the largest Butterbeer Bar in the country. Inspired by Chicago-style of speakeasies, guests can sip iconic Butterbeer and indulge in exclusive Chicago-themed Butterscotch Popcorn.
Fans can also participate in the Sorting Hat photo experience, a paid opportunity that allows guests to discover their Hogwarts house and leave with a memorable keepsake from their visit.
At the heart of the store is the Butterbeer Bar, inspired by Chicago’s storied speakeasy history. Guests can enjoy the beloved Butterbeer beverage alongside exclusive Chicago-themed treats such as butterscotch popcorn. The bar also features a pumpkin juice–inspired drink, served over ice in a limited-edition reusable cup.
