Venetian Night Chicago
Annual Celebration; Bigger Than Ever
Chicago, IL, May 13, 2025—The Italian American Human Relations Foundation (IAHRF) proudly
announces the 5th
Annual Venetian Night Chicago, set to illuminate the Chicago Riverwalk on
Saturday, July 26, 2025. This annual event transforms the heart of the city into a vibrant homage
to Venice, Italy, celebrating cultural heritage through music, art, and a spectacular lighted boat
parade.
“What started as a nostalgic nod to the city’s rich Italian-American legacy has quickly grown into
a summer highlight for families, cultural enthusiasts, and curious tourists alike,” says Lou Rago,
President of the IAHRF. “This year’s entertainment lineup promises a blend of tradition and flair,
spotlighting some of the city’s most charismatic talents.”
The evening begins at 6:00 PM, as the Riverwalk fills with strolling performers dressed in
Venetian regalia who weave through the crowd, serenading guests with operatic arias and classic
Italian ballads. The air buzzes with conversation, laughter, and the clinking of wine glasses from
nearby cafes —a mosaic of Chicago’s cultural tapestry in full bloom.
As dusk deepens into night, at 8:30 PM, the true magic of Venetian Night arrives. The river
transforms into a canal of dreams, as a parade of lighted boats glides silently under the city’s
iconic bridges. Each vessel — be it a private yacht, a vintage Duffy, or a modest pontoon — is a
floating canvas, aglow with handcrafted lanterns, fairy lights, and themes ranging from Venetian
masquerade to Broadway glamour.
“Founded to promote the positive image and contributions of Italian Americans, we see
Venetian Night as more than an event,” adds Rago. “It’s a living story — one that honors
tradition while inviting new voices to the table.”
The boats are more than just beautiful. They’re competitive. Prizes of up to $2,000 are awarded
to the most creative and striking designs — a spirited incentive for participants who spend weeks
perfecting every detail. For those without a boat of their own, rentals and registration are still
open via the IAHRF website.
Venetian Night promises a night to remember — where the spirit of Venice and the soul of
Chicago meet on water.
