The Making History, Making Change Lecture Series is a national collaboration between the Smithsonian and 25 Smithsonian Affiliate organizations, including The DuSable Black History Museum and Education Center. The series features expert-led talks that explore the people, moments, and ideals that shape the American experience.
In this program hosted by The DuSable, Dr. LaCharles Ward, from the Smithsonian’s National Museum of African American History and Culture, will explore the transformative role of photography and cinema in capturing the full spectrum of Black life. Learn about the latest discoveries from the Johnson Publishing Company Archives project and consider the importance of this work to understanding Black history and culture for Chicago communities and the nation.
