Design Graveyard: An Exhibition of Unbuilt Chicago Design November 9, 2026

More info

Design Graveyard is a free, two-week exhibition of design work that never made it out of the studio. It collects abandoned concepts, rejected pitches, unbuilt proposals, and scrapped projects from Chicago designers working in architecture, graphics, interiors, exhibitions, and more.

Each piece is shown on a 17″ × 17″ canvas, alongside a short note on what it was meant to be and why it didn’t happen. Dimensional and digital work submissions welcomed, too, on case by case basis.

Most finished design starts with work like this, and it usually ends up in a drawer or folder. Design Graveyard puts it on the wall for a limited run and gives you the canvas after.

On view October 27 through November 9, 10am to 5pm daily, at the Field Building, 135 S. LaSalle Street. Free and open to the public. No registration required.

Presented by SEGD Chicago. Curated by Ryan Odom, AIA, and Katie Osborne.
