“Prototypes: For Feeling [blank]” is the debut solo exhibition by Chicago-based artist Michael Stuart Thompson, presented at In Fine Spirits in the Andersonville neighborhood. Featuring a series of emotionally charged, mixed-media works, the exhibition explores themes of mental health, survival, and personal reckoning through a lens of expressive experimentation. Each piece operates as a kind of “emotional prototype” — a study in feeling, failure, and persistence.
The artist’s bold gestures and intimate visual language invite viewers to reflect on the balance between control and chaos, clarity and distortion. The result is a raw yet curated space that encourages personal interpretation and emotional engagement.
This exhibition is free and open to the public during In Fine Spirits’ regular hours. Wine is available for purchase during your visit. Select evenings will offer casual opportunities to meet the artist.
