13 Love Songs, the annual variety show curated by Hot Kitchen Collective, is happening for its 11th year in Chicago. The show’s premise is simple – Hot Kitchen curates a playlist of 13 love songs and invites 13 artists (really twelve, plus themselves) to each make a performance inspired by one of the love songs. The performances often range from simple covers to the fully unexpected and all out weird, resulting in a night of true variety (and a bit of romance) from some of Chicago’s best talent.
Over the years, 13 Love Songs has become an annual staple of Chicago variety shows. Previously being hosted at venues like The Hideout, Color Club, Burlington Bar, The Den and several underground spaces, it’s become a way for Hot Kitchen to showcase their favorite Chicago based musicians, comedians, dancers, performance artists and more.
This year’s 13 Love Songs lineup features Allie Torem, Madigan Burke, Derek Spencer, Dora Hewitt, Texas Smith, Crud Country, Melaney Douglass, Stop Motion Plant, Cel Ray, Haul Baum, Ch’ree Jewelz, Genesis & Hot Kitchen.
Join us on April 11th at the Chicago Athletic Association. Doors at 8:30pm, show at 9:00pm. Tickets are available here on a sliding scale from $10-20.
