A Long Swim is a nonprofit that uses open water swimming to raise funds for (1) ALS research at Northwestern’s Feinberg School of Medicine, and (2) water safety lessons for underserved populations of Chicago children.
The biggest swimming event to date has been the Chicago River Swim, which is the first sanctioned open water swimming event in the Chicago River in nearly 100 years. The Chicago River Swim is highly successful at highlighting Chicago’s environmental progressivism and forward thinking as it relates to the decades-long cleanup of the Chicago River.
In addition to partnering with the City of Chicago, Chicago River Swim partners with other nonprofits in the City, including Friends of the Chicago River, Current, Shedd Aquarium, and MWRD.
