The Uncanny Attic: Chapters I-L September 18, 2026
Inspired by Edward Gorey’s iconic The Gashlycrumb Tinies, The Uncanny Attic is a camp macabre performance series that imagines the untold stories of Gorey’s twenty-six ill-fated children- four per installment- through puppetry, clowning, dance, live music, drag, stop-motion animation, and visual theater.
Set inside the attic of an abandoned house on the Cape and narrated by a family of resident raccoons, each chapter is a standalone journey into the fictional town of Willowdale, where an eccentric cast of characters inevitably meets a delightfully sticky end.
Created and produced by Chicago-based Beautifully Gruesome Productions, the creative partnership of Jennifer Friedrich (The Bunny Royale) and Bazuka Joe, The Uncanny Attic is presented in partnership with The Edward Gorey Charitable Trust.
