The Alley Turns 49: A Celebration of Chicago’s Counterculture Legacy
CHICAGO, IL — After nearly five decades on the frontlines of rebellion, art, and alternative identity, The Alley is throwing its biggest party yet. On Sunday, June 8, from 12:00 to 6:00 PM, join us as Chicago’s iconic punk institution celebrates 49 years of underground style, community, and unapologetic self-expression.
Founded in 1976 by Mark Thomas, The Alley has grown from a gritty storefront into a Midwest cultural landmark—serving bikers, punks, goths, misfits, artists, and anyone bold enough to carve their own path. This block party honors that legacy with live music, original art, bold fashion, and a celebration of the scene that made it all possible.
