Permission to Fail: Asian American Art in Progress November 15, 2026

More info

Asian American Arts Chicago, in partnership with HAIBAYÔ Café, is proud to announce “Permission to Fail,” a two-day artist salon taking place November 14–15, 2026, at HAIBAYÔ Café, located at 1132 W. Argyle Street in Chicago’s historic Asia on Argyle neighborhood. Tickets range from donation-based to $25. No one will be turned away due to lack of funds.

Bringing together local Asian American and Pacific Islander (AAPI) artists across disciplines, Permission to Fail invites audiences into the creative process through an intimate showcase of unfinished works, experimental performances, and emerging artistic ideas. Featuring film, close-up magic, stand-up comedy, theater, live music, storytelling, and visual arts, the salon creates an environment where AAPI artists can share works in progress, explore new directions, and engage with audiences without the expectations of a polished final product. HAIBAYÔ Cafe will remain open during the salon, offering crafted beverages and light bites for purchase.
