Charles Dickens Begrudgingly Performs ‘A Christmas Carol’ Again
Clownshow is proud to present Blake Montgomery in his award-winning solo production Charles Dickens Begrudgingly Performs ‘A Christmas Carol’ Again, at Theater Wit, 1229 W. Belmont Ave. This newly revised production marks the first time it is directed by Jonathan Berry (Society of Directors and Choreographers, Steep Theatre Company, Griffin Theatre Company). Charles Dickens Begrudgingly… paints an intimate and slightly absurd portrait of the famous author. The audience’s favorite previews Thursday, December 4, opens Sunday, December 7 at 7pm, and runs through December 28.
Now over 200 years old, Charles Dickens finds himself once again booked to perform his overly familiar Christmas tale just as he has every December since 1853. Dickens, however, has other ideas. Perhaps he’ll get his wish of simply hosting a festive holiday party. Or, perhaps, the Spirits of Christmas might intervene to give him what he really needs: a chance to rediscover the beauty in his work — and the joy of sharing it with an audience — one more time.
Tickets are now available (general: $45; previews: $30) and may be purchased at theaterwit.org or by calling the Theater Wit Box Office at (773) 975-8150. Learn more about the show at DickensAgain.com. Charles Dickens Begrudgingly … is recommended for ages 15+. Running time is 95 minutes with no intermission.
