Between Bites connects communities and supports charitable causes through food-inspired storytelling. Founded in 2013, the ongoing philanthropic event series celebrates meaningful and memorable food stories. Each event features personal narratives from five to six local personalities whose lives intersect with food, including writers, chefs, sommeliers, mixologists and restaurateurs. At the April 30th event, guests can savor chef-prepared bites, a signature cocktail and wine while hearing stories from James Beard nominees and winners.

On Sunday, May 6th, world-renowned tiki bar Three Dots and a Dash will host a cocktail takeover event with Seamstress from New York and Licorería Limantour from Mexico City. Pam Wiznitzer, President of U.S. Bartenders’ Guild and creative director of Seamstress and Belle Shoals, and Jose Luis Leon of Licorería Limantour, the best bar in Latin America on the World’s 50 Best Bars list, will join Beverage Director Kevin Beary for a collaboration in Chicago to celebrate the James Beard Foundation Awards. 

From 4-8 pm, creations from Kevin Beary of Three Dots and a Dash will be showcased alongside cocktails from Pam and Jose’s respective concepts. The limited-time-only menu will be available on Sunday, May 6 from 4-8pm. This event is free to attend and open to the public.

For the the third consecutive year, The Violet Hour will team up with Kirk Estopinal, a former Violet Hour tender and owner of New Orlean’s acclaimed Cure, for a one-night takeover at the Wicker Park cocktail lounge. The Violet Hour will break house rules and host guests for a standing-room-only party, serving special assorted $10 cocktails alongside small bites by Alfredo Nogueira of The Cure Group. For 48 hours only, The Violet Hour’s iconic mural will also feature special, Cure-themed artwork.
