One of the most anticipated cultural openings in the country, the Obama Presidential Center will debut in Jackson Park with multi-day celebrations June 18–21, 2026, officially opening to the public on June 19 (Juneteenth). The 19.3-acre campus will feature a striking 225-foot museum tower, a Chicago Public Library branch, the Program & Athletics Center (Home Court), and expansive green space designed for community connection and programming. O’Hare International Airport has reclaimed its position as the busiest airfield in the world, according to new data from Airports Council International. In 2025, the airport recorded more than 860,000 aircraft operations—an average of one takeoff or landing every 37 seconds—reinforcing Chicago’s role as a global hub for travel and commerce. The milestone reflects O’Hare’s unmatched operational capacity, global connectivity, and continued investment through the $8.2 billion ORDNext expansion program.

United Airlines Plans Largest Chicago Summer Ever. Chicago’s hometown airline will operate up to 750 daily departures from O’Hare this summer — the largest schedule ever flown by any airline at ORD. United will offer nonstop service to 222 destinations (47 international and 175 domestic), including five new Midwest routes launching in late April and early May. The expansion reinforces O’Hare’s global gateway status and includes enhanced onboard technology, expanded United Club access, Starlink Wi-Fi rollout, and the hiring of approximately 2,500 additional Chicago-based employees.

The campus has also achieved Gold Level Certification to the Events Industry Council’s Sustainable Event Standards, reinforcing Chicago’s leadership in hosting large-scale, environmentally responsible events. Chicago Fire Soccer Celebrations at Recess Brings World Cup Fan Experience to West Loop (June–July). Chicago Fire FC will activate Recess in the West Loop as a high-energy soccer hub during the FIFA World Cup 2026, hosting the Chicago Fire Soccer Celebration from June 11 through July 19. The venue will screen every match from first kick to final whistle, complemented by special guest appearances, limited-edition merchandise, and immersive fan activations. With large-group reservations, table service, and a lively indoor-outdoor setting, Recess will serve as a central gathering place for fans to experience the global tournament atmosphere in Chicago.
