The Music Box Theatre is an independently owned and operated, 1929 historic movie palace and Chicago’s premier destination for independent, international, cult, and classic cinema. Located at 3733 N. Southport Ave. in the Lakeview neighborhood, the theatre has operated as an art-house cinema since 1983.
The Music Box hosts numerous film series, festivals, and community events throughout the year, including its annual 31 Days of Horror every October, The Sound of Music Sing-A-Long every November, and holiday double features of It’s a Wonderful Life and White Christmas every December.
The theatre is renowned for presenting films in their original formats, including 35mm and 70mm celluloid prints, alongside state-of-the-art digital projection.
