Growing Home’s 4th Annual Backyard Barbecue
Growing Home’s Backyard Barbecue is our signature annual celebration that brings together community members, partners, and supporters to honor the impact of Chicago’s first and only USDA-certified organic urban farm with a social mission. Taking place on Sunday, September 21, 2025, this festive gathering showcases the power of food, farming, and community in transforming lives on Chicago’s South Side.
The Backyard Barbecue features an afternoon of delicious food prepared by local chefs, live entertainment, farm tours, family-friendly activities, and opportunities to connect with neighbors, supporters, and alumni of Growing Home’s Employment Training Program. Guests will experience firsthand how Growing Home advances food justice, workforce development, and healthy communities while celebrating the resilience and talent of Englewood.
Funds raised through the Backyard Barbecue directly support Growing Home’s mission to provide paid job training, fresh affordable produce, and community programming that cultivates economic opportunity and healthy futures.
