Nature Night Out May 21, 2026
Join us on Thursday, May 21, from 6:00 to 8:30 PM for an adults-only evening at the Peggy Notebaert Nature Museum. Enjoy refreshments while exploring the museum’s exhibits after hours, including the Judy Istock Butterfly Haven, and meet some of our live animals up close!
Stop by our crafting stations for a relaxed sip-and-paint experience — celebrate spring by decorating a flower pot or painting a prairie landscape while enjoying a drink and good company. Get a head start on your garden, and help our local monarch butterflies, by purchasing a tin of milkweed seeds while you’re here!
The team from The Lawndale Popup Spot will also be here celebrating the ReLeaf Project by leading a printmaking activation throughout the night. We’re also welcoming our friends from Urban Sketchers Chicago who will be stationed around the museum excited to help you sketch the magical moments you experience. Whether you come with friends or make new ones, it’s a fun way to unwind and tap into your creativity.
Guests will also be treated to special Critter Connections at 6:30 and 7:30. These are a chance to meet one of the Nature Museum’s resident animals up close and learn more about them!
As a special bonus, the first 50 guests will receive a one-of-a-kind, branded Nature Night Out pint glass. We hope you’ll join us for an engaging evening of nature, creativity, and community.
And while you’re taking advantage of your access to the Butterfly Haven, you’ll also be able to enjoy live music provided by Jeremy Graeff!
Every ticket comes with 1 complimentary alcoholic OR non-alcoholic beverage. Additional beverages and snacks will be available for purchase.
