CHICAGO GUIDES

Easy Access Chicago (773.388.8839) offers comprehensive accessibility resources for more than 100 top attractions, hotels, and restaurants, as well as transportation, O'Hare and Midway airports, and more. You'll also find listings of accessible tours and key disability services. The website offers the most updated reports and information, however, you can also download the guide book.

The City of Chicago Mayor's Office for People with Disabilities (312.744.6673 voice) (312.744.7833 TTY) provides information on accessibility at the city's many lakefront festivals, wheelchair accessible taxicabs, renting hand cycles, and much more.

CHICAGO PUBLIC TRANSPORTATION

Chicago Transit Authority (888-968-7282), or CTA as it is more commonly called, operates the nation's second largest public transportation system. CTA accessible services include a bus system of over 140 routes — of which all vehicles are fully accessible through lifts and ramps — and the 8 train lines of the 'L' rail system — of which the majority of train stations have elevators or ramps, and all CTA trains include accessible rail cars.

Chicago's Regional Transportation Authority (312.836.7000) oversees all local transportation operators in the six-county Chicago metropolitan area and provides accessibility services and resources for Metra commuter rail train and PACE suburban bus services.

ADDITIONAL TRANSPORTATION & SERVICES

Open Taxis (855.928.1010) is the centralized dispatch service for all Chicago Wheelchair Accessible Vehicles (WAV). Minivans are equipped with ramps, wheelchair securements, and shoulder seat belts. Call the toll free number 855-WAV-1010 or the direct line 773-657-3006 for immediate pickup or to schedule a pickup time.

Special Needs Chicago (630.668.9999) provides wheelchair accessible medicar service throughout Chicago and the suburbs. Transportation is available every day (including holidays) and for your convenience, advance reservations plus same-day medivan rides can be booked quickly and easily online or by phone.

SCR Medical Transportation (773.768.7000) offers 24-hour dispatching utilizing wheelchair accessible minivans, 15-passenger vans, coaches, sedans, and luxury vehicles.

Scootaround Wheelchair & Scooter Rentals (888.441.7575) provides a wide range of mobility solutions and rents mobility scooters, wheelchairs, and powerchairs. Reserve in advance with the option to choose pickup locations at the convention center, a special event venue or your hotel.

Accessible Journeys (800.846.4537) provides accessible vacation planning and group tours as well as licensed travel companions for slow walkers and wheelchair travelers. 

Deaf Communication by Innovation provides qualified American Sign Language (ASL) interpreters for travelers. It is a Chicago-based, Deaf owned and operated business that has been recognized as an award-winning interpreting agency multiple times since being established in 2003.
