Field Museum World's Fair

Did you know that Chicago's Field Museum was founded to commemorate the 1893 World's Fair? I've been visiting Chicago's Field Museum since I was a kid myself, and entering into the grand hall, where Sue the Dinosaur lives, still fills me with excitement. My kids and I recently visited the  Opening the Vaults: Wonders of the 1893 World's Fair exhibit, which takes visitors back to 1893, to the World's Colombian Exposition - one of the greatest events in the history of Chicago, and the U.S.

In case you're all holiday'd out, there's still one more to go before we click the "reset" button on the year. Fortunately, New Year's is all about Champagne, so that makes it go down a bit easier. There's certainly a bevy of bubbly New Year's parties to attend, or you could play it simple and visit one of these spots for Champagne cocktails or straight-up stellar Champagne service. Chicago Christmas Tree

Tree at the Drake-The Drake Hotel isone of the most famous hotels in the world. It's the most adored of Christmas symbols, whose evergreen majesty has been the center of the holiday season for so many people. Why, yes, friends, I'm talking about the tree with a song all its own, The Christmas Tree. While yes, the one in your house is quite amazing, I have to say that Chicago is pulling out all the stops when it comes to bedazzled pines this year. Here are 4 Chicago Christmas trees that will knock your stockings off just in time for your own Christmas Trree's big day.

It's A Wonderful Pro-Life

'Twas the night before Christmas, when all through Chicago, every creature was stirring on every stage and studio. The laughter, it hung like stockings, in the air, in hopes that every punchline would be met with uproarious care. The audience was nestled all snug in their seats while visions of cocktails to their lips would soon meet. As they took their place and I, too, took mine, I will now share the Christmas comedies I did find.

Art and Faith of the Creche at LUMA

Water Tower Winter This past Sunday, the kids and I took a break from Mag Mile shopping and took a moment to remember the true reason for the Christmas season. We stepped into the Loyola University Museum of Art, just across from the historic Water Tower, and took some quiet time to soak in the current exhibit, Art and Faith of the Crèche: The Collection of James and Emilia Govan. This touching exhibit shows how artists across the globe depict the Nativity, and makes for an interesting, relaxing and thoughtful break from holiday shopping.
