Manhattans and More at the Tortoise Club

Tortoise Club

Tucked in right next to Bertrand Goldberg’s celebrated Marina City, you’ll find a rather rare gem in River North known as the Tortoise Club. In an area that is fairly rife with eateries that can be a bit boisterous (albeit compelling), the Tortoise offers a bit more gentility in a down-tempo wood-paneled clubby type atmosphere that is redolent of a different era soaked in Manhattans and three piece suits.

The Chicago International Music and Movies festival grows more massive and more expansive every spring. However, the 2015 programming proves that it's not missing out on any amount of quality for the sake of quantity. The city-wide, multiple venue fest is unique in that it not only showcases many fine musicians and filmmakers but it also highlights the longstanding relationship and reliance that the two mediums share.

Chicago Map

More than 7,000 geographers are coming to Chicago from April 21-25 for the annual Association of American Geographers Annual Meeting. As a geographer, I welcome their arrival and hope they find time to consider our grid system, take advantage of our transit system and partake of our many unique neighborhoods.

I've assembled a few resources that will help make their time here quite enjoyable and anyone with an interest in space and place will enjoy them as well.
