Fire and Water Quintet

Introducing Fire and Water Quintet, the brainchild of pianist and composer Myra Melford, bringing together an extraordinary lineup featuring Mary Halvorson on guitar, Ingrid Laubrock on saxophone, Tomeka Reid on cello, and Lesley Mok on percussion.

This jazz supergroup’s soundscape draws inspiration from the drawings of American visual artist Cy Twombly, particularly his Gaeta Set (for the Love of Fire & Water). It’s a dynamic journey that mirrors Twombly’s exploration of organic and elemental themes within his artwork.
