The Rhapsody Theater Presents “Joshua Jay: Making Magic”
Rogers Park’s premier entertainment venue, The Rhapsody Theater, 1328 W Morse Ave, presents Joshua Jay: Making Magic, Sept. 18 – Oct. 5.
Joshua Jay, one of magic’s most dynamic performers, returns for the third year to Rhapsody Theater, this time with something new. In 2023, Jay premiered Look Closer, produced by Rhapsody Theater, marking the worldwide debut of a new show. This show followed the acclaimed Six Impossible Things, which debuted off-Broadway in New York City and ran for more than four extensions and two years. Look Closer was a show of magic and sleight-of-hand where Jay turned the concept of misdirection on its head. In most magic shows, the magician diverts your attention. In Look Closer we were invited to look very, very closely, as the shapes of the tricks change the more you focus on them. “The very best magic tricks have layers of deception,” says Jay, “Mysteries embedded within mysteries. We just never get the chance to explore them. Look Closer was that chance.”
The performance schedule is Thursdays through Saturdays at 7:30 p.m., with an additional performance on Sunday, Sept. 28 at 2 p.m. Tickets are $35 – $90 and available now at RhapsodyTheater.com or by calling 888.495.9001. For more information, please contact tickets@rhapsodytheater.com.
