Someone Dies! Microbudget Filmmaking Q&A and Screening

Houston film collective, Monster Closet, will host an educational screening of feature film: Someone Dies! at The Annoyance Theatre and Bar on Saturday, May 4th at 3pm. Q&A to follow.

Someone Dies! is a feature film about a deadbeat detective who finds a cryptic note that begins an investigation. which leads to the discovery of an incomprehensible kitchen sink. Filmed entirely under the constraints of the COVID-19 lockdown, Someone Dies! is truly the invention of a limited budget, confined space, and boundless enthusiasm.

In a stark contrast to the mass-produced multiverse action-packed consumer films flooding the box office of the last 10 years, Someone Dies! is a refreshingly absurd yet meaningful look at alternate timelines to one’s life. “This is character driven in a way that you wish the main characters understood larger implications of the problem,” says Petty. “But they don’t. And you love them all the same.”

Someone Dies! is the second feature taken on by the Monster Closet team and counts among its cast: Joseph Graham (the Detective), Amy Anderson (the Girl/Jane), Houston-based standup comedian John Wessling (Glenn), Adam Edwards (Ivan), and Houston-native Rapper Fat Tony as the Wizard.

Tickets are $10 at the door or at annoyance.com. Free for students at the door with student ID. 18+ recommended.
