Opening Reception: Materialized Visions: Black Figurative Tradition in Chicago

Materialized Visions highlights the multifaceted ways in which contemporary black artists are working within the genre of figurativism. Through a range of mediums including paint, ceramic, textile, and archival material, this exhibition offers a panoramic view of how these contemporary artists navigate and contribute to the evolving dialogues surrounding black figurative traditions.

The exhibition’s reception opens opens its doors at 5:00 p.m. We are also pleased to announce a panel discussion as a part of this exhibition. The discussion, featuring art historian and curator, Ayrika Hall, and artist, curator, and cultural worker, Jada Amina, is scheduled to commence at 8:00 p.m.
