Chicago Naadam – 2025
Naadam is the most significant and prestigious traditional festival celebrated by Mongolians. It is a vibrant occasion that combines athletic competitions with cultural performances, offering a diverse array of events that highlights the richness of nomadic heritage. It is once in a year opportunity to immerse yourself in the unique nomadic cultural heritage and cuisine of the Mongols.
Since 2000, Mongolians in Chicago have continued this tradition, offering a meaningful opportunity to experience the uniqueness of Mongolian nomadic culture and tradition. With over 3000 attendees expected, it will be the biggest Naadam festival in the USA. The festival will include Mongolian traditional and modern music, song, dance performance, equestrian show, traditional costume show, wrestling, archery and ankle bone shooting competition and many more. Naadam means ‘games’ in the Mongolian language and it includes three main competitions, Mongolian wrestling, archery, and horse racing. The Naadam Festival is included in the UNESCO ‘s list of Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity.
