5th Annual World Dumpling Fest
World Dumpling Fest returns to celebrate cultural diversity throughout Chicago with food, music, and fun. The Chicago Cultural Alliance is excited to host its Fifth Annual World Dumpling Fest. This event will be held on Saturday, September 21 at Logan Square Park, 3150 W Logan Blvd, Chicago from Noon to 9 pm. This all-ages event will feature 9-hours of cultural arts performances, hand-crafted items designed by local artists, and of course — dumplings! World Dumpling Fest will feature over ten neighborhood vendors representing dumplings from Latin America, Poland, China, India, Japan, and more!
While there, be sure to stop by the cultural activation booths to learn more about some of Chicago’s most cherished cultural heritage centers — which include: American Indian Center, APIDA Arts, Crossing Borders Music, Friends of the Gamelan, Haitian American Museum of Chicago, National Cambodian Heritage Museum, The Peace School, Puerto Rican Arts Alliance, Segundo Ruiz Belvis Cultural Center, South Asia Institute, T.G. Masaryk Czech School, and the Ukrainian National Museum.
Families will discover engaging activities when they visit the Kohl Children’s Museum Family Zone — let your creativity run wild in the Imagination Playground, explore your artistic talents with Dumpling Pop Art, and dance along with the music using your own handmade Movement Wands!
Food Vendors include: Cafe Tola, Polombia, Shawarma Point, Tandoor Char House, Home Bakery, Kurtos R Us, Lee Concessions, Tank Kitchen, Mochinut Donuts.
Main Stage Entertainment: Center of Peruvian Arts, Crossing Borders Music & National Cambodian Heritage Museum, “Ki” (APIDA Arts), Latin Music Project (Puerto Rican Arts Alliance), Friends of the Gamelan, Irish American Heritage Center, Korean Performing Arts Institute of Chicago, Los Pleneros de Don Segundo (Segundo Ruiz Belvis Cultural Center), Margaret Burroughs Collective (South Side Community Art Center), Do the Needful (South Asia Institute).
“We are very excited to be back in Logan Square Park for a second year,” said Michael Scott, Programs & Membership Manager. “Due to the World Dumpling Fest’s popularity last year, we have moved into a much larger area of the park. It speaks to the growing passion that our community has for supporting cultural arts and diversity throughout Chicago. The Chicago Cultural Alliance (CCA) is honored to have the opportunity to work alongside, and advocate for, so many wonderful cultural heritage centers. The World Dumpling Fest amplifies and promotes the scope of work that these centers accomplish every day — and upholds CCA’s mission to help strengthen our community through cross-cultural collaboration.”
World Dumpling Fest is a fundraiser held to support the work of the Chicago Cultural Alliance, a nonprofit organization whose mission is to support, promote and advocate for over 40 centers of cultural heritage from around the Chicagoland area.
A $10 donation is suggested.
