Volcano Day at the Lizzadro Museum!

Volcanoes in Illinois?! Not recently, but come make your own volcanic eruption, watch a trash can volcano, and see the microscopic components of what makes up volcanic ash. Museum scientists will discuss eruption types and styles, as well as the benefits and hazards associated with volcanoes.
At 2 p.m. Melanie Holmes, author of “A Hero on Mount St. Helens: The Life and Legacy of David A. Johnston” will discuss her book about Illinois native, Dr. David Johnston, who was on the flanks of Mt. St. Helens when it erupted on May 18th, 1980. Her book will be available in the Museum Shop for signing following the presentation. $10 per adult, $8 per senior, $5 per child/student
