The Ritz-Carlton, Chicago Revamps

The hotel has unveiled a $100 million refresh that includes more than 25,000 square feet of revitalized event space and Chicago's largest luxury ballroom.

Taking its inspiration from the city itself, The Ritz-Carlton, Chicago recently underwent a multi-million renovation that included revamping its main lobby and event spaces, along with the introduction of a new restaurant and spa. Here’s a rundown of all the glamorous details.

ARTFUL LOBBIES

The ground-floor lobby shows off some of the hotel’s impressive art collection, inspired by the works of the neighboring Museum of Contemporary Art. Roy Lichtenstein’s Wallpaper with Blue Floor Interior is right at home with the Ellsworth Kelly lithograph, Dark Grey Curve, and Matt Devine’s sculpture, called Cradle.

Up on the 12th floor main lobby, an homage to Lake Michigan is seen in the Flying Wave floating sculpture made from four different types of hand-blown glass in blue tones reminiscent of the lake waters. Sleek gray marble columns that frame the social spaces of the lobby and shimmering metallic partitions are a testament to Chicago’s modern architecture.

NEW EVENT SPACES

The Ritz-Carlton, Chicago Ballroom

More than 25,000 square feet of flexible meeting and event space that can accommodate 12-1,200 guests has been refreshed, and now includes the largest luxury ballroom in Chicago. The Ritz-Carlton Ballroom and Grand Foyer total 14,000 square feet, and can host up to 600 guests. Boasting sweeping city views, the ballroom is awash in metallic leafing and natural light. Its centerpiece—an opulent chandelier with 400,000 illuminating crystals—has been exquisitely restored to its original glory. An exciting new addition, the 3,500-square-foot St. Clair Ballroom, is the perfect space for mid-size meetings, holding up to 220 guests.

ROOFTOP DINING

Torali Italian – Steak

Torali Italian – Steak is a modern new Italian steakhouse located on the hotel’s 12th floor that offers private dining rooms for groups. The contemporary Italian menu includes handmade pastas, prime and dry-aged meats, seafood and Italian classics with a twist. The seasonal Rooftop at Torali showcases breathtaking city views, and offers shareable plates and cocktails. The adjacent Torali Bar—a warm, inviting space with a copper-clad facade and intimate lounge settees—features Italian spirits, along with innovative house-made infusions.

The Cafe has a relaxed atmosphere by day, boasting specialty coffee from La Colombe, fresh-squeezed juices, gourmet sandwiches, decadent desserts and pastries. By night, The Cafe transforms into a sophisticated setting under glistening skylights.

REJUVENATING DAY SPA

Ritz-Carlton Spa, Chicago

After the work day is done, the new Ritz-Carlton Spa, Chicago, serves as a tranquil retreat accented with elements of stone, walnut and a color palette of soothing tones. Inspired by the shores of Lake Michigan, this urban retreat revives the mind, body and soul. Hydration-inspired experiences include a high-powered antioxidant facial and a head-to-toe body glow treatment. In addition to five treatment rooms, there are men and women’s steam rooms, and a new nail salon. The Ritz-Carlton Spa, Chicago, exclusively features ESPA natural skincare and beauty products.
