READERS' CHOICE AWARDS RANKS CHICAGO AMONG TOP 10 U.S. CITIES
Conde Nast Traveler announced the results of its 26th annual Readers' Choice Awards, and Chicago took the No. 5 spot. The city's culture and restaurants ranked highest on elements readers liked the most, and many said the "terrific architecture" and "great ethnic food" make it a must-visit city.
CHOOSE CHICAGO LAUNCHES NEIGHBORHOOD WEBSITE
Don Welsh, president and CEO of Choose Chicago, along with Mayor Rahm Emanuel, announced the launch of the new Chicago Neighborhoods website. Visitors and residents can explore 51 neighborhoods geographically and thematically. They can check out each neighborhoods listings of restaurants, shops, cultural attractions, public art, historic sites and more. They can even create their own itinerary tailored to their interests in each neighborhood. The website is part of Choose Chicago's effort to expand tourism throughout the city and give visitors and residents a chance to experience many cultures and landscapes within one city.
O'HARE EXPEDITED CUSTOMS PROCESS EXPANDED TO CANADIANS
The Chicago Department of Aviation announced that the Automated Passport Control system has been expanded to include Canadian residents with valid Canadian passports. APC is technology that uses self-service kiosks to expedite customs processing, and O'Hare is the first U.S. airport to offer the system and now the first to extend it to residents of Canada.
