The Obama Foundation recently announced that Chicago won a bid to host the Presidential Library, which will be located on the city's South Side.

Chicago is slated to become the first city with a universal taxi smartphone app, and a competitive selection process has recently begun for choosing the app. The universal app will allow customers to connect to every licensed taxi cab throughout Chicago's neighborhoods, increasing accessibility to taxi transportation, even in areas not frequented by taxi companies.

The James Beard Foundation announced its 2015 James Beard Award winners, and several Chicago venues and restaurateurs have earned the prestigious recognition. The Violet Hour won the Outstanding Bar Program award, Donnie Madia of One Off Hospitality Group won Best Restaurateur, Brindille won the Outstanding Restaurant Design Award (75 seats and under), and Richard Melman of Lettuce Entertain You Enterprises won the Lifetime Achievement Award.

Living up to its reputation as a global gateway for international travelers, O'Hare International Airport will offer expedited traveler arrival into the United States via the Mobile Passport Control app. This free smartphone and tablet app allows eligible travelers to submit their passport information and customs declaration form prior to arrival.

The Malkin-Sacks Climbing Walls at Maggie Daley Park are officially open, adding another unique feature to this recently opened park. With a total climbing surface area of 19,000-square-feet, the climbing walls can accommodate up to 100 climbers at one time and are divided into sections for varying climbing ability.

Icelandair announced its upcoming expansion to O'Hare International Airport (ORD), with plans to offer year-round service beginning March 16, 2016. Flight service will include four weekly round-trips to Iceland on Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays and Sundays.
