CHICAGO'S MICHELIN, BIB GOURMAND WINNERS ANNOUNCED
The famed Michelin Guide released the winners of the 2014 Chicago guide, awarding a record 25 restaurants with stars. Alinea remained the only three-star restaurant in Chicago, maintaining its position among the elite few that have received that ranking around the world. This year also marked the inclusion of two more two-star restaurants, Sixteen and Grace, bringing the number to four total. Five restaurants earned their first stars this year, including El Ideas, The Lobby, North Pond, Elizabeth and Senza.
The Michelin star announcement came a couple days after the Bib Gourmand's, with more area restaurants than ever making the list of dining at good value. These are awarded to restaurants that serve two courses and a glass of wine or dessert for $40 or less (not including tax and gratuity). Sixty-nine Chicago restaurants made the list, including 21 newcomers.
