THEATER TOURS

GO BEHIND-THE-SCENES AT CHICAGO'S MOST VENERATED THEATER HOUSES.

The Auditorium Theatre of Roosevelt University offers more than amazing music and dance performances. Adler’s acoustical design of the theater is considered to be a masterpiece of sound, while Sullivan’s signature ornamentation (including 24-karat, gold-leaf ceiling arches) adds graceful style. Join one of the daytime Historic Theatre Tours for a behind-the-scenes look at this architectural marvel. Tickets: $12.

Additional theaters offering behind-the-scenes tours include the Cadillac Palace Theatre, designed by legendary theatre architects the Rapp Brothers; the Oriental Theatre, also designed by the Rapp Brothers and  inspired by the Far East; and the CIBC Theatre, which was the first venue in Chicago to cost over $1 million.

The opulent Lyric Opera also offers tours, See the inside of the Art Deco Ardis Krainik Theatre, enjoy an up-close view of the orchestra pit, and walk backstage to see how operatic stagecraft comes to life. Tickets: $15.

And at the Chicago Theater, the Marquee Tour encompasses historical and architectural highlights of the building, including the grand lobby, sweeping staircase and majestic auditorium. Tickets: $15.
