FOUR NEW CHICAGO SUSHI RESTAURANTS
The growing love for sushi has fueled the opening of these four sushi restaurants. Not all are equipped with private dining space, however, they offer unique and delicious fare perfect for lunch meetings, catering or after-work brainstorming.
- Stetsons Modern Steak + Sushi (formerly Stetson's Chop House), located in the Hyatt Regency, received a recent facelift that fused the steakhouse and sushi bar into a sleek hybrid. Private event space is available through the Hyatt Regency.
- Tanuki is a small open-kitchen sushi spot in Lakeview that masters Asian cuisine mixed with Western flavors. This unique spot is BYOB and offers attentive service. Take out and pick up is available, making it a great option for a fast lunch break during a busy day of meetings.
- Umai Japanese Kitchen & Sushi, located in the South Loop, has a menu based in traditional Japanese cuisine that allows their simple dishes to speak for themselves. Their full-bar service is ideal for after-work cocktails.
- Sushi Dokku prides itself on finding and serving the highest quality of fish to ensure the best sushi experience. Sushi Dokku also has catering options, including having their chefs join any event to prepare sushi for your guests. Chicagoans rejoiced when owners Angela Lee and Susan Thompson opened Dokku's doors after their previous restaurant, Sushi Wabi, closed in 2012 after losing its lease.
CHEF IZARD OPENS LITTLE GOAT
Chef Stephanie Izard of Girl & the Goat opened this two-story restaurant in December to serve traditional diner fare made with farm-fresh and local ingredients. The restaurant is 8,200 square feet with a bar, diner and artisan bread and coffee shop housed on the first floor. The second floor has a demo kitchen with classroom space that is available for private events up to 40 people.
