Coda Di Volpe
  • Opened in summer 2016 in the Southport Cooridor / Lakeview neighborhood, Coda Di Volpe is a neighborhood favorite dining destination serving Southern Italian fare for dinner and weekend brunch. Coda Di Volpe brings casual sophistication to the neighborhood and features an open dining room with views of the handmade, brick Stefano Ferrara oven, a full service bar for libations and dining, and seasonal sidewalk seating. Restaurateurs Billy Lawless (Gage Hospitality Group, which also includes Acanto, Beacon Tavern, The Dawson and The Gage) and Ryan O'Donnell (also Gemini) have been friends for years. Lawless and O'Donnell joined forces with Chef Thompson and the vision for Coda Di Volpe came to life. Chef Chris Thompson, previously at the helm of nationally acclaimed restaurants including A16 and Spruce in San Francisco and The Nickel in Denver, spent extensive time in Italy conducting research for what would evolve into Coda Di Volpe's Southern Italian-focused menu. In 2017, Coda Di Volpe was awarded a VPN certificate – a special designation bestowed by an Italian nonprofit formed to cultivate the art of Neapolitan pizza. Only three Chicago establishments hold a VPN certificate. Reservations are encouraged and, space permitting, walk-ins are welcome.
