Broken Nose Theatre is one of Chicago’s premiere Pay-What-You-Can (PWYC) companies, dedicated to making exciting and relevant theatre economically accessible to everyone. BNT produces and develops new work that sparks conversation, cultivates empathy, and amplifies underrepresented voices, and builds new and diverse audiences for the arts by letting patrons set their own ticket price. Founded in 2012, the company has collaborated with more than 500 artists to produce 12 full-length plays, develop 5 original full-length scripts through their Paper Trail new play development program, and commission and produce over 50 new women-centric short plays through their annual Bechdel Fest. BNT has sold more than 8,000 PWYC tickets and shared their work with over 11,000 patrons; been featured on numerous “Best of the Year” lists and in American Theatre Magazine; and received numerous awards and accolades, including 4 Jeff Awards, 1 Black Theatre Alliance Award, an inaugural Rick Bayless Family Foundation grant, and the 2018 Broadway in Chicago Emerging Theatre Award.
